THE 3 FOLD STRATEGY FOR CONVERTING LARGE, TIGHTLY INTEGRATED VFP LEGACY SYSTEMS
Last year had been a year of opportunities for Macrosoft as we got to convert several ultra-large and tightly integrated VFP legacy applications, which motivated us to devise 3 migration strategies. Our first strategy for normal conversion projects is a 2-phase approach having no downtime and a one-time database migration resulting in the shortest conversion timeframe. In our second strategy, for projects that are module based, we use the batch update to convert the application one module at a time, with the new and old application running parallel during conversion. Third strategy also employs a multi-phase approach, but now it is based on a sequence of the selected functionalities that are critical for successful conversion.
- See how we devised the 3 strategies from the experiences gained from past migration projects.
- Learn more about the “do-it-all” two phase approach being explained in our First strategy.
- Examine the multi-phase, module-based approach as described in our Second strategy.
- Know more on the sequence based selected functionality approach discussed in our Third strategy.
